Green Valley, Arizona – The Community Water Company of Green Valley is delighted to announce that Saul Leal, an employee of 18 years, has been named the AZ Water’s 2023 “Small System Operator of the Year” at its 96th Annual Conference & Exhibition held at the Phoenix Convention Center. Saul’s recognition demonstrates his exceptional performance in the field of water distribution and treatment systems, with a strong focus on innovation, community service, water conservation, and participation in the water industry.
As a member of the AZ Water Association, Saul holds certificates in water distribution, water treatment, wastewater collection, and wastewater treatment. He has proven his dedication to the community by volunteering with the University of Arizona’s Project Wet for the last nine years. This project educates fourth-grade students about watersheds, the water cycle, and water conservation. Saul’s efforts have reached more than 400 students yearly, demonstrating his commitment to environmental education.
“Saul’s hard work, dedication, and innovation have helped him become a highly skilled water operator,” said John Meyer, CWC Utility Operator. “We congratulate Saul for this well-deserved honor.” Saul’s attention to detail and leadership skills have made him a valuable asset to the Community Water Company, and his achievement is a testament to his exceptional work ethic.
Saul has worked with Community Water Company’s Senior Service Technician, Marc Levesque, since 2008. Marc believes that Saul’s attention to detail and leadership skills are just some of the reasons he deserves this recognition. “The best part about working with Saul is that you will work hard but have a great time doing it. Congratulations, Saul,” added Trey Harris, Community Water Company’s Treatment Supervisor.
Alvaro Gaxiola, Operations Supervisor at Liberty Utilities, has known Saul for over 20 years and worked with him for ten years. Alvaro said, “Saul is a great operator and leader for Community Water Company of Green Valley, and I have a lot of respect for the gentleman.”
The AZ Water Association is a nonprofit educational organization founded in 1928 with a membership of more than 2,500 water/wastewater professionals dedicated to preserving and enhancing Arizona’s water environment. The Community Water Company of Green Valley is a not-for-profit corporation with members serving the Green Valley Sahuarita area since 1977.
“We are proud of the achievements of all of our employees,” said Arturo Gabaldόn, Community Water Company President. “It is an honor when one of our employees is recognized in the water industry.” Saul was accompanied by his wife, Dulce Leal, at the recognition ceremony in Phoenix.
